The Multicultural Café will return to the Maranoa this October, celebrating the cultural diversity of the region.

The Multicultural Cafe will run on the first Thursday of every month to showcase the talent of locals from different backgrounds, who will share their personal stories, cultural heritage, and of course, their delectable traditional cuisine. The event will take place each month in Roma Library‘s kitchen, which can be found on Hawthorne Street.

Councillor Janelle Stanford, Portfolio Chair for Community & Social Services, said the event is the perfect way to celebrate the diverse backgrounds of the local community. “People of cultural diversity have chosen the Maranoa as their home, and with them they bring unique stories and an insight into their culture,” Cr Stanford said. “The Multicultural Café is a fantastic way to meet new people and sample traditional food, with a different culture introduced each month.”

The monthly event will be begin on October 6 at 11:30am and will be boasting a Filipino feast. Guests can sample the traditional food for only $5 and then sit back and listen to a special presentation about this month’s community volunteer.

As this is a catered event, bookings are a must. Please RSVP to Sarah Quinlan, Carers Queensland on 4622 1270 by Friday, 30 September to get involved.
