Goodwill Village is hosting a Christmas benefit concert to raise money to build an earthquake proof school in a remote region of Nepal. This new school will house over 670 children from the Satyadevi village. On the April 25 this year the community’s original school was destroyed by a devastating earthquake.
Goodwill Village was founded Moyalia Tokmak who was profoundly touched by the devastation caused. It was an easy decision for Moyalia to lend a hand. Moyalia and Irfan Tokmak, the owners of Sofra Turkish Cuisine, joined together in an effort to raise funds for these remote regions.
The Christmas benefit concert will feature Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal, Spirit of Bhakti, MZAZA, Gabe & Cecilia Brandolini, Vasil Lolo, The Damian Black Band, TIAPYE and many more. There will be an exotic market, henna painting, dancing, an open bar and plenty of Turkish and Nepali food.
Organisers are hoping to raise $125,000 through the event with every cent donated going directly to the school.
Tickets are available through the Empire Theatre booking office on 1300 655 299 or at www.empiretheatre.com.au
