The Gympie Music Muster has announced the headlining artists who will join more than 100 performers at this year’s event. Australian country music icons Kasey Chambers, The McClymonts and James Blundell are among the first names to be released, along with festival favourites Luke O’Shea and Felicity Urquhart.

New in 2019 is an exciting foray into the gritty stylings of rock legends Tex Perkins and former INXS songwriter Andrew Farriss, who is making his country music debut.

Organisers say since the first Muster in 1982, country music is now experiencing a rise in popularity, with Spotify recently ranking Australia as the third largest audience for country music in the world. The event now features not only performances but has expanded to include songwriting and ukelele workshops, kids country and its very own talent search.

Beyond the music, the Muster aims to foster a positive culture. Organisers say the event is about mateship and making a difference, with an incredible program of experiences for festival-goers to participate in and camping in one of the country’s most stunning landscapes. Due to the event being almost exclusively volunteer-driven, the music festival has raised close to $15 million since its inception with money returning to the local community and various charities over the years.

The Gympie Music Muster is held from 22 to 25 August at the Amamoor Creek Forest.
