It will be a nostalgic moment when the Toowoomba Choral Society sings and dances onto the Empire Theatre stage this September.
More than two decades ago the Society produced the first musical in the newly-renovated Empire Theatre – the beloved classic My Fair Lady. Society Producer Rebecca Cherry says it will be a proud moment to re-live the popular musical. “Producing My Fair Lady this year is so significant, as it was the first musical we performed at the Empire Theatre and was, in fact, the very first musical performed at the Empire Theatre when it re-opened in 1997,” she said. “My Fair Lady is one of the most beloved musicals of all time and has definitely been one of the most successful musicals ever staged here in Toowoomba.”
This will be the Choral Society’s fourth production of My Fair Lady in its 60-year history. February marked the launch of the Society’s 2019 season, with the release of the long-awaited audition packs and the announcement of the Creative Team. “We have an amazing creative team this year, including professional producer/director/actor Kate Peters, who has just finished a successful season of Hello, Dolly! on the Gold Coast and recently appeared in the ABC television drama Harrow,” Rebecca said. “We’re so excited to have someone with Kate’s experience directing My Fair Lady.”
Auditions will be held from 26 to 29 April. Audition packs and further information on My Fair Lady is available on the Choral Society website.
