St Joseph’s College has welcomed a new Deputy Principal at the start of this school term. After 12 years at St Mary’s College Toowoomba, Brendon Willocks is stepping into the new role at St Joseph’s College and could not be more excited to start working with the students.
Prior to his appointments in Toowoomba, Mr Willocks was at St Edmund’s College in Ipswich which is also a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition. He is a highly experienced educator with an outstanding background in school innovation, curriculum design and delivery who will bring his wealth of knowledge to the College.
What attracted Mr Willocks to the College was the emphasis on the values of compassion, respect, endeavour and dignity which are core to the school community. “These values are instilled in our students as part of their education so that they graduate with skills, capabilities, emotional intelligence and the confidence to go out into the world and make a difference,” said Mr Willocks.
“I find that as an educator, it is important to continually reflect on and refine our craft and I am passionate about achieving this through research and evidence-based pedagogie,” he said. “I am excited to work with the students, current staff and in partnership with parents and the school community.”
