Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) held their AGM on October 22, announcing changes to the management team. Inaugural Chairman John Wagner announced his resignation, while Chief Executive Officer Shane Charles resigned and took on the new role of Chairman of the Board. The organisation welcomed Dr Ben Lyons as their new CEO.
According to John Wagner (who has resigned from the board to resume work in the family business) the changes have been carefully planned and orchestrated. Originally contracted for three years, John kept the CEO role for an extra year to assure the succession was carefully managed.
Mr Charles had nothing but good things to say about Mr Wagner, stating that “his relentless advocate for our region and his ‘just do it’ attitude has led TSBE with great advantage for the past four and a half years.”
“From the very early days, John has been a driving force behind TSBE’s endeavours and his strategic insights have allowed us to grow and reach milestones far beyond what we could have originally imagined,” Mr Charles said.
TSBE’s new CEO, Dr Ben Lyons, grew up in Augathella and Glenmorgan before living and working in China for the last 18 years. Ben has a doctorate in agricultural economics and has experience in senior roles in the wool, education and finance industries. He has also worked as a General Manager in Strategy and Development (China). Ben had already been working with TSBE for the past 12 months as Chief Operating Officer before the CEO position was brought to his attention.
