Our Lady of the Southern Cross proudly congratulated two of its students who had achieved amazing goals throughout the year, at this year’s Australia Day Awards in Dalby.

Emily Poulos was the winner of the 2017 Dux Award for College and Lyhkan King-Togia received the Junior Sports Award. Emily is currently at the University of Queensland commencing her studies in a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) degree. 

This course is difficult to gain entry to however Emily achieved the OP requirement necessary for a first round offer. 

Emily is also an exceptional dancer and played representative netball for the College.  She managed to balance her commitment to dancing and sport with her academic studies throughout her senior years at Our Lady of the Southern Cross College.

Lyhkan along with fellow college student De La Salle Va’a was selected in the 2017 Queensland Under 12 Rugby League side, finishing fifth of 12 teams.

Lyhkan and De La Salle were named in the team after they represented Darling Downs at state level.

The boys have previously represented the district, and have been selected in the Darling Downs team, where Lyhkan was chosen as Captain.

Lhykan was also chosen as Vice-Captain on the Queensland team which won the National Championships in Melbourne.

Also a talented rugby union and touch football player, Lyhkan, now in Year 8, intends to concentrate on his studies, and playing for the Dalby Devils Under 13’s.
