We sat down with Empire Theatre CEO Kerry Saul to see what he likes most about the Downs and surrounds…
What do you like most about the Darling Downs region?
We have four seasons throughout the year including a beautiful spring with wonderful flowers, the occasional very cold morning in winter and the lovely sun in summer.
Who inspires you?
My wife inspires me. She is a wonderful giver to our community and never expects thanks or recognition in return.
Favourite foodie haunt in the Downs region?
For 20 years I believe the best restaurant in Toowoomba has been and still is Encores. I hold a special place in my heart for Ground Up Espresso Bar as my son Rob was the first barista there.
This autumn, I will be spending more time…
At home on weekends (it’s been a busy summer!).
The best way to unwind after a busy week?
I love getting into my shed with my carpentry tools.
Ultimate holiday destination?
Every year I am lucky enough to visit Vanuatu.
What highlights are you most excited about on Empire Theatre’s calendar this year?
Curious Arts Festival from 15 to 16 March will bring a bit of fringe arts to Toowoomba. The Proclaimers, Boys in The Band and of course Kinky Boots in March featuring our local creatives and cast will be a stand out.
