We sat down with Kim Wildman, Manager of Tourism at Balonne Shire Council, to find out what she likes most about the Downs and surrounds.
What do you like most about the Downs region?
I love its diversity and colour. You can go from the city to the country to the outback – and it’s all within a few hours drive.
Who inspires you?
Strong women. There are a few women in my life who are currently facing immense personal challenges. Their strength, determination and good humour in spite of it all inspires me every day.
Favourite foodie haunt in the Downs region?
There are too many places to name just one! That said, no matter where in the region I am, I love hunting down the local produce market. In St George, the best place for quality, seasonal local produce is Seed + Sprout.

The best way to unwind after a busy week?
Going for a walk along the Balonne River in St George with my dog Miley.
Ultimate holiday destination?
