The Rotary Ride the Range has a professional women’s racing team on board to tackle one of the toughest charity rides on Sunday 31 March.

Event Group Toowoomba’s Jo Capp said she was extra excited this year about having the first women’s National Road Series (NRS) cycling team, KOM Financial Advice Racing Team, traveling from Brisbane for the event.  “KOM is an elite racing team that aims to inspire and encourage women and girls to be involved in cycling,” Jo said. “It is fantastic that we have been able to entice cyclists of this caliber to Toowoomba for this event.”

KOM’s Founder and cyclist himself, Dan Corbett said the team was looking forward to the challenge and although it will act as a training ride, they will not be taking it easy. “Two of our cyclists, Nicky Rolls and Megan Williams, have done Ride the Range on numerous occasions and suggested we bring the team up.” Dan said.

Among the KOM Financial Advice team travelling to Toowoomba there will be five NRS cyclists including Nicky Rolls, Megan Williams, Ash Elliott, Anna Jeffries, and Bree Wilson. “Bree won the Tour of Gippsland late last year, which is one of the hardest domestic Tours in the season and Anna has just finished racing the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, which brings the best riders in the world to Australia,” Dan said.

He said KOM’s sponsors KOM Financial Advice, Two Before Ten Coffee Roasters, KASK helmets,, and Champion Systems invest in a roster of aspiring female riders to make up the team.“The women selected have been chosen based not only on their athletic performances but also their contribution to the team, their involvement in their local cycling community and their suitability as role models,” he said. “So events like Ride the Range are just as important for us to be involved with to help promote the sport and encourage other girls and women to take up cycling.”
