Callum Murray is a Year 12 Student at Toowoomba Grammar School who started in year 7 in 2014.
In his earlier years, Callum studied via Longreach Distance Education. His Year 12 studies this year include English, Chemistry, Mathematics B, Mathematics C, Biology and Agricultural Science. He is a strong academic and is very conscientious in his studies. He intends to study Veterinary Science at University next year.
Callum and his parents initially lived in Quilpie, until the end of 2014, and then moved to Meandarra to a cropping and grazing property. Callum enjoys his time on the property and its associated variety of tasks and responsibilities. This year Callum is one of 15 School Prefects in Year 12, having received this leadership position based on the positive recommendation of both his contemporaries and teaching staff. He is also a Captain of Toowoomba Grammar School Boarding’s Boyce House. In
this role, Callum supports 50 boys aged from 13 to 18 years, as well as the Boarding Housemaster and other resident staff. In Callum’s words, “I love boarding at TGS — it’s my second home.”
In the School’s co-curricular program Callum has played Cricket (Open Second XI) and Rugby Union. He has participated in School Cricket tours and matches in both New Zealand and Sydney. Callum leads the School’s White Ribbon Committee, initiating and coordinating various activities amongst the boys and staff to help put a stop to men’s violence against women. The School thanks Callum for his efforts in this most important role and organisation.
