Year 10 St Saviour’s College student Jacinta Byrne is looking forward to combining her love of music with her academic and cultural pursuits this year.

Beginning as a boarder at the college in 2019, Jacinta has settled into boarding enjoying the company of her fellow students from around Queensland. Continuing a family legacy, Jacinta’s eldest sister and two older cousins also attended St Saviour’s College as boarders. An accomplished musician, Jacinta plays the guitar and ukulele and has a passion for country music singing. Keen to share her music with the wider school community, Jacinta will play her guitar and sing at the upcoming St Saviour’s College Alumni gathering to welcome guests.

A seasoned performer, Jacinta cites Keith Urban as her role model in the country music field. Following in the footsteps of her idol, Jacinta’s musical prowess has been well recognised and rewarded in recent years. In 2018, Jacinta won the Ekka country music singing competition, and was the overall winner at Oakey in the Country Music Festival. She was also the overall junior winner at the Redland’s Music competition in Bayside Brisbane that same year. In 2017, Jacinta won the Australia Day Achievement award in her home town, Thargomindah in south west Queensland.

After graduating from St Saviour’s, Jacinta hopes to pursue a career in music or become an auto mechanic. Music will continue to feature throughout during the remainder of her schooling years at St Saviour’s College.
