Toowoomba startup, Spark Girlz, has been nominated in the 2019 What’s On 4 Kids Awards – Recognising Excellence in Australian Business

The demand for children’s activities continues to grow steadily, making the children’s activity and party industry one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. It’s not a big secret that even in times of financial difficulty parents will continue to spend money on their children – and even more so if that spend is on products or activities that they feel will aid their child’s learning and development, assist their education or improve their general health and quality of life. This trend is only likely to continue, with more households where both parents go out to work, meaning that the market for after school activities is booming.

Founders of Spark Girlz, Andrea Madden and Steph Piper, are using their combined industry knowledge to provide parents with educational opportunities to inspire young learners. Currently, the female founders host school holiday workshops at Canvas Coworking centered on teaching electronics, innovation and 3D printing to school-aged students, but are also working on creating retail kits featuring inspirational Australian women in STEM to spark a passion for the sciences in more girls.“This will be the first time we have attended such an event, it’s a great opportunity to learn from other children’s activity providers and come together to celebrate the industry” said Madden. “We are super proud to be representing Toowoomba as we are the only local business nomination across all the categories.”

In its 8th successful year the 2019 What’s On 4 Kids Awards is recognising excellence in the industry across 32 categories. Elise Easdown founder of the Awards comments “We feel very privileged to not only work with this industry but to also celebrate them with the What’s On 4 Kids Awards. Winning awards gives the industry recognition, increases team morale and workplace culture and leads to more family interest”.

Categories include Industry Leaders, Best Family Day Out, Best Franchised Kids Activity, Best Team Culture, Best National Preschooler Activity & Best Kids Activity for Cultural Diversity and Best Kids Party Provider. Spark Girlz are excited to be nominated in three of these categories – Best School Holiday Activity, Best New Kids Activity and Best Local School-Aged Kids Activity.
