Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE (SQIT) welcomed famous Chinese Artist Li Jie to its Toowoomba campus recently as part of his visit to the garden city.
In Western terms, Li Jie is a cross between Paul Simon and Quincy Jones. He has released a string of national hits, is a leading film and TV music producer, and has developed the careers of China’s most famous performers.
Li Jie’s own ‘Tour of Toowoomba’ was filmed for an advertising campaign to promote the city’s relaxed lifestyle, study and employment opportunities to his home country, for which he’s a cultural ambassador.
In addition to visiting the Toowoomba TAFE campus, Li and his delegation met with Mayor Paul Antonio and Toowoomba Regional Councillors, SQIT Institute Director Trevor Schwenke, and AusChinaJV’s John Gouldson and John Moncrieff to discuss business opportunities and relationships between Toowoomba and China.
Mr Schwenke was pleased with the outcomes of their discussions, and believed that this would be the first significant step towards Toowoomba being positioned as the first port of call for China for training, education and lifestyle opportunities.
