Southern Downs Regional Council is calling on the community to continue registering their S150-themed events publicly on the official S150 online events calendar as part of the year-long celebrations.

May 2022 officially marked Stanthorpe’s sesquicentennial (150th) birthday and a vibrant program of S150-themed community and tourism events have already breathed life into the celebrations, including the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival; Stanthorpe Show; Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery’s Then | Now | Art: 150 Years of Stanthorpe’s Creativity exhibition; Stanthorpe Little Theatre’s production of From Tin to Town: A Living History of Stanthorpe in conjunction with Council; Amiens History Association’s A Tin Experience at Amiens Legacy Centre; Stanthorpe State Primary School Teaching and Learning in the 1870s Day and the Italian Community Celebrations.

Council is now reminding event organisers to continue the momentum and share their community events on the dedicated calendar.

Southern Downs Councillor and Chair of the S150 Advisory Committee, Cameron Gow said that the festivities already held have proven to be a kaleidoscope celebrating the origins of the town from the humble establishment of tin mining to the vibrant tourism and agriculture powerhouse we see today.
