Year 12 student Andrew Park is the Senior Prefect (School Captain) of Toowoomba Grammar School, having commenced at the school in Year 8 in 2009. Andrew is a young man of high intellect and has a bright future ahead of him.
At the moment, Andrew is studying English, Mathematics B, Chemistry, Biology, Music and Music Extension. His academic excellence is not his only strength as he is heavily involved in the school’s co-curricular program. He is a fine musician and holds the qualification of Associate Diploma (A.Mus.A.) from the Australian Music Examinations Board in alto saxophone. Andrew also enjoys drum kit and plays in the school’s Wind Orchestra, Big Band and R’n’B Band. In sport, Andrew is a member of the School’s GPS Open Swimming Team which came third in the annual GPS Swimming Championships held in March at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. He is also a member of the school’s open 1st XI Football (soccer) team in which he is a mid-fielder, and he runs in the school’s Cross Country team.
As Senior Prefect, Andrew is also involved in Toowoomba Grammar School’s Service Committee which is part of the Interact Club. There he participates in various fundraising programs to help the people around him and promote awareness of social issues. Andrew’s leadership qualities focus on respectful relations, humility and encouraging all to do the very best they can.
Andrew was born in Toowoomba with his parents coming from a Korean heritage. He is inspired by his multicultural background and particularly by his father who lectures at the University of Southern Queensland. After his schooling, he plans to study dentistry.
