College Co-Captain Marty Campbell commenced at The SCOTS PGC College in Year 10 after moving to Warwick from the New South Wales north coast.
In 2011, Marty was the recipient of the JR Simpson Academic Prize and received full academic colours; in 2012 he was awarded half academic colours. Marty represented Darling Downs at the Queensland Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships, placing fifth in 15 Years Men 400m final in 2011 and seventh in the 16-17 Years Men 400m Hurdles final in 2012. “I enjoyed being a member of the First Rugby Premier team last year and thoroughly enjoy Drama and Music at the College.”
Co-Captain Grace Brennan is a boarder at the College with her home town being Elsmore in New South Wales. In 2012, Grace received full colours in Touch Football and Athletics, and Academic and Netball half colours. Last year, Grace was selected in the Darling Downs team for Athletics and for the State Touch Championships, under 20s. “On completing Year 12 I would like to have a gap year and work either locally or overseas and then attend university in 2015 to study Optometry at QUT. I dream that I will invent some form of surgery or device that will allow people to regain full sight and be able to see the world!”
College Captains Marty and Grace actively encourage students to become involved in activities that they may not have tried before. “Get to know your teachers, consult them as much as you can. Smile. Make someone else smile. Aim for those grades you’ve always wanted. Take control. Become involved.”
Their main goal for 2013 is to maintain and, if possible, strengthen the College’s values.
