The 70th annual Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers was launched on Tuesday 30 April beside the Toowoomba Town Hall. The program was officially unveiled by Toowoomba Region Councillor Paul McVeigh, which will this year include a record 77 events. Special guests in attendance included Felicity Schubert, whose mother Maureen Kistle (later Lady Schubert) graced the cover of the 1956 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Souvenir Program, and was the 1955 Miss Australia, as well as Kate Logan and her grandmother Elizabeth Cornford who watched the very first Carnival Parade on October 28, 1950. The Carnival of Flowers will take place in Toowoomba from 20 to 29 September.
