Construction of vital infrastructure for the Toowoomba Trade Gateway has been completed thanks to funding from Rounds 1 and 2 of the State Government’s $365 million Building our Regions (BoR) program. The Steger Road Infrastructure enabling project and Toowoomba Enterprise Hub stimulus project have provided key transport and water links to what is now known as the Toowoomba Trade Gateway.

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the projects provide greater opportunities to create jobs in the region. “We’ve made significant investment in Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, and this $16.7 million upgrade to the Toowoomba Trade Gateway, supported by more than $7.3 million from BoR,” Mr Dick said, “These major infrastructure projects have solidified Toowoomba’s place as one of Queensland’s leading transport, logistics and industrial hubs.”

“Upgrades to roads, improvements to stormwater management and the extension of existing utilities networks have significantly increased transport accessibility to Toowoomba Trade Gateway’s northern precinct. An estimated 51 jobs were supported during construction and the completion of these upgrades highlights the importance of regional connectivity, with the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing officially opening next month to meet transport demands for the region’s growing population,” Mr Dick said. “The Palaszczuk Government is proud to inject funding to stimulate growth and support this thriving part of our state.”

Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio said BoR has been integral in providing necessary funding to support Toowoomba’s growing economy and surrounding air, rail and nearby Brisbane Ports infrastructure. “The Toowoomba Trade Gateway provides a really bright future for us,” Mr Antonio said. Across the first four funding rounds of BoR, Toowoomba Regional Council has received almost $23 million for seven infrastructure projects, creating 156 local jobs.
