Two University of Southern Queensland artists have been shortlisted in the Queensland Regional Art Awards, the annual exhibition for established and emerging artists living in regional and remote Queensland. Wanderlust: The Touring Exhibition of the 2018 Queensland Regional Art Awards is Flying Arts Allianceβs annual prize and exhibition, and had its official launch at the Waltzing Matilda Centre at Winton on Saturday 27 July.
Abramo Pappβs painting Marina Reflections 3 and Miles Allenβs mixed media work Old for New were shortlisted from 170 entries to the 26 artworks which will travel to Brisbane, Somerset, Winton, Goondiwindi, Chinchilla, Toowoomba, and Ingham. Papp is a former architect and current doctoral student in the School of Arts at the University of Southern Queensland exploring the teaching of colour, while Allen is a University of Southern Queensland Alumni who obtained his Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration in 1992. University of Southern Queenslandβs Associate Professor in Arts Education Margaret Baguley said it was a significant opportunity for the artists to be part of the prestigious exhibition touring the state. βIt highlights the amazing artistic talent pool from regional areas and the University of Southern Queensland,β Baguley said. βIt is also a wonderful chance for the artists to gain exposure and enhance their reputation in the artistic community.
