This September Warwick officially made its mark on the electric vehicle map. The Southern Downs is now a destination for renewable energy with the opening of its first electric vehicle charging station. Motorists can now charge their electric vehicles at the new station in the car park behind Country Target, accessible via Acacia Avenue.
The Southern Downs Regional Council has installed the new electric vehicle charging station in partnership with The University of Queensland as part of the Warwick Solar Farm initiative and commitment to a sustainable future. The initiative aims to assist in making the Southern Downs a hub for sustainable energy research, education and engagement. The Council Car Park is a major step towards this goal.
On the day of the launch, as another glimpse into the future University of Queensland representatives traveled to the new station in the UQ Tesla, an electric vehicle made famous for its impressive marriage of style and sustainability.
