Winners for the inaugural Downs Women in Business Awards will be presented with their with their awards at a ceremony and reception at Gips Restaurant in Toowoomba next Wednesday, November 18. There will be a number of special guests in attendance, including the Hon Ian Macfarlane MP.
The awards recognise the efforts and achievements of exceptional women in the Downs region. In particular, the awards acknowledge the achievements of women with entrepreneurial drive, vision, innovation, leadership and the individuality and tenacity to become role models for the local community. Nominations are sought through categories of industry, small business, community and education.
The Toowoomba awards cover three main categories. The first is the Community Dedication Award, in which an individual is awarded for their contribution to the community through volunteer work. The Empowering Young Woman Award recognises a high performing young woman with leadership potential and outstanding qualities. Lastly, the Downs Woman in Business of the Year Award honours an inspirational innovator and business leader.
