Toowoomba’s Focus HR has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards for 2018. Focus HR is one of 19 small businesses competing in the Business Services category, an incredible feat considering there are 2.7 million small businesses across Australia. Managing consultant Naomi Wilson will be attending the award ceremony on Saturday 21 April.

Focus HR prides itself on providing businesses with practical human resources and work health and safety solutions. The team at Focus HR complement reliable practices with contemporary thinking, ensuring that business’ individual needs are satisfied. For instance, Wilson has practiced human resources since 2001, and her consultation work has spanned across key business sectors, local government, and not-for-profit organizations. Wilson has received graduate, postgraduate and professional qualifications in human resources management, including a double degree in arts and business, and a Master of Business Administration.

The Federal Minister for Small Business Honorable Michael McCormack explains that small business owners and operators deserve to be celebrated, as they execute their ideas with unwavering dedication and passion. McCormack says that the nature of small business “is what drives our economy and gives millions of Australians their first start in the workforce.” Likewise, McCormack argues that the Small Business Champion Awards is vital to the growth of the small business sector, as it draws recognition to the stories of success and inspiration. “Customer bases can grow and more Australians with a spark of an idea and a dedication can see their dreams become a reality,” says McCormack.

Focus HR will be competing against a variety of Australian companies, including Sydney’s Truong & Partners, a business advisory and performance coaching firm, and Forest Lake’s Publicity Genie, a public relations firm for startups. The 2017 winner in the Business Servies category was Alderton Enterprises, a management company based in Mortdale.
