Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland extravaganza has officially launched into its 17th year of lights! Mayor Paul Antonio welcomed in the silly season on Thursday 17 October showering his support onto the event.

The annual event is hosted by the Lions Club of Toowoomba West raising funds for three main beneficiaries, the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Lifeline Darling Downs & South West and Toowoomba Hospice.

Project Chairman Marshall Cox thanked Mayor Paul Antonio for his ongoing support of Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland and helping to officially launch the event into its 17th year. “We are incredibly lucky and grateful to have so many wonderful supporters come on board each year. Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the support of our community,” he said. 2018’s Wonderland raised more than $87, 500 for charity and marked the 1 millionth dollar donated since the event’s inception in 2003.

Mr Cox said with many families doing it tough in the drought, Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland hopes to spread smiles and cheer across the region and beyond. “It’s been a pretty tough year across the board with drought and bushfires. It’s our hope that we’ll see many families joining us for a night of worry-free Christmas cheer and fun,” he said. This year hopes to hold just as many highlights with family friendly entertainment, eats, Christmas raffles and cakes up for sale. “We’ll have plenty of free activities on offer for the whole family to come and enjoy. There’s nothing more rewarding then seeing our event bring so much excitement to children, families and adults.”

Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland will light up the Queen’s Park Botanic Gardens from 7pm to 10pm each night from December 7 to 24.
