The Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) is encouraging the region’s employers to access more than $85,000 of financial incentives to hire and retain new employees.
There are a range of Federal and State Government subsidy programs available, including the Back to Work program, which enables local businesses to offset the cost of wages and to assist job seekers to return to work.
Southern Downs Mayor Tracy Dobie said government incentive programs exist to give businesses the confidence to employ job seekers.
“In the media this week we’ve seen reports that our region is full of willing and energetic job seekers,” Cr Dobie said. “I encourage our local employers to access the financial assistance available to them to strengthen their own business while increasing employment in the region. Council’s Economic Development and Tourism team can give further insights to businesses about which programs are available and put you in touch with the appropriate government representative.”
SDRC’S Economic Development and Tourism Unit will will host a Government Subsidies Expo in Warwick, a free event which will provide employers with valuable information on the subsidies, incentives and support available across all industries.
For more information on the event or the subsidy programs available please contact Southern Downs Regional Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Unit on 1300 697 372.
