Towoomba Hospitals Paediatric Unit has been gifted two electric remote control toy cars. Sick kids will now have a sweet ride to the operating theatre. The children in the Paediatric Unit were surprised with the cars on 18 November.

The gifts are a generous donation from Margaret and Mark Toleman. The Tolemans were inspired by a similar story from the United Kingdom. The cars were donated with the hope that the fun experience of driving the cars will distract children and make the operation experience less daunting. With self-drive and remote control options, the children in the hospital will now be able to drive themselves to the operation theatre.

The toy cars have been Christened with the names Elizabeth, after Margaret’s still-born sister, and Tom & Terry, after Margaret’s brothers. All three of Margaret’s siblings were born at the hospital, creating a beautiful connection between the cars and the hospital.
