The Grammar Art Show welcomes Melbourne artist Suzi Redman as the feature artist for 2019.
Held annually, The Grammar Art Show will this year be staged on March 30 and 31. Redman’s distinct paintings are in high demand throughout Australia, and seeing 12 of her works in one location is a rare experience. Whilst she lives in Melbourne, Redman is a self-declared country girl at heart and is quite the introvert, content to spend time alone with her brushes and paints, and her subjects.
“I get lost in the images, they challenge me, pushing me to understand lightfall, negative space, shading, where different muscles lay on individual animals and where the strength lies in their bodies as I study their form,” explains Redman. Redman has a background in interior design and can see how art can transform a space, reflecting an individual’s personality as a form of self expression.
For two weeks prior to the Art Show, the Feature Artist’s paintings will be displayed on the Grammar Art Trail at 10 businesses around Toowoomba. More than 700 pieces of art from 200 artists provide a diverse range, offering something for everyone’s taste and budget.
Previews of the art can be seen on Facebook and Instagram @grammarARTshow, with new images currently being posted daily in the weeks prior to the show. This annual event is held shortly before the Easter school holidays. Tickets for opening night and high tea are available online. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment, as they often sell out. The Art Show and cafe are open 10am to 4pm, with door entry into the Art Show $5 on 30 and 31 March. Visit the Grammar Art Show website for more information, tickets and to view the Grammar Art Trail locations.
