Chinchilla local Claudia Elhers, also known as Mrs Klaud.e, has been announced the winner of Western Downs Regional Council’s Groovin’ from the Garage local music competition for 2023 with her original song, City Girl in the Country.

After reviewing all the entries in this year’s Groovin’ from the Garage competition, the Council has revealed the winning local artist, who will now have the opportunity to create her own professionally produced Artist Spotlight video. Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said the initiative aimed not only to invigorate the region’s music scene, but also to generate some of the community spirit that makes our region so active and vibrant.

“We were thrilled to bring this initiative back for a third year and give our incredibly talented local artists a platform through which to express their musical talents, as well as giving them the opportunity to enjoy a bit of friendly competition with like-minded locals,” Cr Maguire said. “I am very excited to watch Mrs Klaud.e’s Artist Spotlight video across Council’s platforms and hear about her passion for music and journey as an artist in her own words.

“The Artist Spotlight profile video is going to be an amazing opportunity for Mrs Klaud.e to have her talents professionally captured, and to share her music for the whole region to enjoy. Council is passionate about supporting local businesses as well as local musical talent, so we are very excited to have engaged local videographers to produce the artist spotlight. As always, it is so difficult choosing a winner for our ‘Groovin’ from the Garage’ competition and I would like to thank and congratulate each of our participants for their hard work and impressive performances. Well done once again to our winner Claudia Elhers (Mrs Klaud.e).”
