Due to ill health the Hon Julie Bishop is unable to attend the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Women of Strength Luncheon on Friday 13 March, with the organisation announcing Australian journalist, TV presenter and author Jessica Rowe will take her place as Special Guest.

The Hon Julie Bishop said due to an eye infection she is unable to travel but sends her best wishes for a successful event. “It is with great regret that I have had to cancel my visit to Toowoomba for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Women of Strength Luncheon this Friday,” she said.  “This is due to a serious eye infection that has required admission to hospital and my specialist’s advice that I must not travel. I expect to make a full recovery over the coming weeks.”

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said despite Ms Bishop no longer being able to attend, the Foundation is excited to welcome Jessica Rowe to Toowoomba. “Though it’s sad that Ms Bishop is no longer able to join us on Friday, we’re excited and grateful that Jessica can join us at such short notice,” she said.  “Our Women of Strength Luncheon is such a fun and fantastic day out, away from the office, having a great time raising much needed funds for areas in need in the Darling Downs Health service.  Jessica is an inspirational woman of strength and we can’t wait to welcome our guests on Friday to hear her story.  We wish Ms Bishop a speedy recovery and look forward to inviting her back for a future Women of Strength Luncheon.”
