Year 12 student Julian Lachmund dedicates several hours every day for music practice and rehearsal, in addition to the academic demands of his studies. Julian is studying English, General Mathematics, Music, Music Extension, Drama, and Philosophy and Reason.

He is a highly accomplished musician in violin, piano and other instruments. He has already been awarded a Diploma (AMusA) from the Australian Music Examinations Board in violin and last year he was part of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra Prodigy Project in which he participated in various workshops and performances. Julian also holds three student leadership positions — School Prefect, Leader of the Arts and Leader of the Strings Ensemble. He is a busy student when you include his academic study, his music rehearsals and commitments, and football (soccer) training, Julian also somehow finds time for his own rock band known as Electric Friday, which plays regularly at community events and school functions in Toowoomba. This is Julian’s 12th year attending Toowoomba Grammar School and he also lives on the School campus because his father is an Assistant Boarding Housemaster and a senior English teacher at the School. Julian has immense passion for Toowoomba Grammar School and looks forward to a great final year aspiring to study Music at tertiary level.
