SCOTS PGC College Year 8 student Samuel Bourke has his future all mapped out. He plans to represent his country in both cricket and hockey at the most elite level.

Afterwards Samuel plans to pursue a career in sports media, where he can continue to be involved with the sports he loves the most. This may seem like a big dream for a 13-year old but Samuel is already well on his way to achieving many smaller goals which support his long-term aspirations. Just last year, Samuel was selected in the Darling Downs team for both cricket and hockey to contest the Queensland State Championships in each sport. He played in the Queensland State Hockey championship in Townsville. “I was really excited and surprised when they read out my name as one of the players to make up the Queensland squad,” he said.

Samuel later travelled to Bendigo for the 10-12 years National Hockey Championships, where his team finished in third place. Samuel loves the wide range of co-curricular activities at The SCOTS PGC College and ensures he makes the most of all opportunities.  His blazer pocket is decorated with numerous awards for swimming, cricket, hockey and cross country. When he is not on a sporting field or in the pool, you will find him tuning his bagpipes to perform with The SCOTS PGC College Pipe Band or studying to remain at the top of his game for the classroom. Samuel has a great philosophy which is to “work hard and practice how you play”.
