Have you ever seen pigs fly? If not, you best head to Nindigully Pub Pig Races & Music Muster on Saturday 28 November 2020 and witness this spectacle for yourself. The fun family day features a six-race program with gates opening at 10am and the first race taking off between noon and 1pm. Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day until late with a  fantastic line up of country artists performing.

Now in its 16th year, the event is a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). Last year saw around 1000 punters come from near and far to support the event which raised more than $45,000 for the RFDS. For a town with a normal population of only 9 people (yes, 9) that’s a superb effort.

All piglets are auctioned individually every race. The winning pig is then the first piglet to make it through an obstacle course to the milk bowl which they all share at the finish. The total prize pool of each race is divided with 50 per cent going to the RFDA and the remaining 50 cent going to the 1st  place winners. There’s no photo finish or video replay here and judges decisions are final. The 1st place owner also gets a priceless trophy to take home and display on their mantlepiece.

Event goers are encouraged to get in the spirit and dress up. Come for a weekend of laughs, good fun and good times.

Perched on the banks of the Moonie River, having been established in 1864, the rustic Nindigully Pub is the longest continually licensed pub in Queensland. The pub has qualified chefs on staff and have beautiful fresh meals available seven days a week. For the weekend of the pig races they have the best bush caterers in Australia as well as vendors in the beer garden selling coffee, tea and ice creams. All food is extra cost to gate fees but all are reasonably priced and excellent quality.

Free camping is available on the banks of the tree-lined Moonie River with hot showers available at the pub. If you don’t want to camp St George is only 45 kms away (25 mins). Please note all piglets are treated humanely and with respect and do retire early to a great farm life on Noahs Farm.
