RAVA Productions, a Toowoomba based performing arts company, has received a highly valued grant from the Queensland Government. The Touring Queensland grant of $139,466 will allow RAVA Productions to tour The Wind in the Willows, employ an Associate Producer and provide drama/dance workshops to 16 communities in northern and western regional Queensland. Toowoomba’s RAVA Productions is one of 11 arts companies sharing the $1.165 million investment in touring exhibitions and performances by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
RAVA Productions is appointing Ms Courtney Wagner in one of five Industry Placement roles supported in this funding round as part of a new Queensland Government initiative introduced through Arts Queensland. Creative Producer for RAVA Productions Ms Ruth Atkinson said, “We are thrilled to receive Arts Queensland support for this Industry Placement, helping RAVA grow and employ one of our Company’s founding actors, Courtney Wagner as Associate Producer.”
The Industry Placement initiative addresses arts industry skills gaps building the capacity of Queensland’s creative workforce and supporting arts companies like RAVA Productions to grow. RAVA Productions tour of The Wind in the Willows will employ six actors to tour some 6200 kilometres, taking in communities from Toowoomba to Townsville, Wandoan to Winton, Boulia to Beaudesert and Mackay to Mount Isa.
RAVA Productions is a partnership between two arts industry professionals, Alison Vallette and Ruth Atkinson. RAVA productions aims to create opportunities for emerging professional artists from the Darling Downs and support them as they pursue their career goals in the Arts. Creative Producer Ms Ruth Atkinson said RAVA Productions is committed to working with locally nurtured actors, designers and technicians to create opportunities to showcase their skills and gain valuable industry experience. RAVA Productions has completed four tours since launching in 2018, taking in 43 Queensland communities and played to over 15,000 children and their families.
