Creevey Russell Principal Dan Creevey said the firm’s Toowoomba and Brisbane offices had been working together to support the Wesley Mission Red Bag Appeal by providing food, toys, drinks and much more to families that would otherwise go without at Christmas time. “There are more than 400,000 Queenslanders living on or below the poverty line who need support at this time of year,” Mr Creevey said. “Our staff have embraced the Wesley Mission Red Bag Appeal, which involves purchasing a Red Bag for $50 and filling it with Christmas provisions. Up until Christmas, the Wesley Central Mission delivers Red Bags full of Christmas cheer to more than 200 needy families each day. Our staff in Toowoomba and Brisbane have been in a healthy competition to see which office can donate the most bags.”
Items recommended by Wesley Central Mission for the Red Bags include long-life custard and milk, tinned meat (hams, salmon, tuna, chicken, corned beef), tea and coffee, puddings, chocolates, biscuits and lollies, savouries and nuts, tinned fruit, soft drinks and cordial, Christmas bonbons, non-perishable tinned food items, toiletries (male and female), toys for children (6-10 years) and Christmas cake.
