Toowoomba Turf Club (TTC) has announced the appointment of five members to its board, following the completion of a members’ ballot.

The Club opened applications to fill five vacancies on the Management Committee in July, receiving 10 quality nominations. Club Members then cast votes, electing five highly-credentialed individuals to the 2019-20 board, Gerard Betros, Andrew Catlow, Anthony Collin, Allen Vol & Jason Ward. The new appointees will join Kent Woodford and Allan Gee as the seven-member board for the forthcoming season.

TTC Chairman Kent Woodford welcomed the result of the ballot, thanking club members for their participation in the appointment process.“The Toowoomba Turf Club’s members, today, appointed the leadership team to take the club into the next decade and I am excited to work with such a talented group of passionate people. Each of the nominees possessed the skill set to drive the club forward and I am delighted with the results of the election, appointing a diverse selection of skilled people to the Board,” Mr. Woodford said. The club has brought forward its annual general meeting, to take place on Thursday, August 29, where the 2019/20 Management Committee will be formally inducted, and the Executive Officers selected.

The TTC this week also launched its 2019 Findex Members and Industry Appreciation Dinner, to take place on Saturday, August 31, in the Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium. The evening will form the first official engagement of the new TTC Board, offering members and industry supporters the opportunity to meet the club’s new leadership team. TTC CEO Blair Odgers is looking forward to the event. “The appreciation dinner has been well received. We set this event as an opportunity to come together as an industry, to unite and join in the celebration of thoroughbred racing in Toowoomba. Each club member receives one complimentary ticket to the event, which will be headlined by recently-retired hoop Jeff Lloyd and legendary broadcaster Greg Miles. We’ll also be raising funds for the National Jockeys Trust on the night, it looks set to be a wonderful evening,” Mr. Odgers cheerfully said.
