Local design firm Feather & Lawry Design has emerged the winner of Residential Architecture (New Houses), as well as the People’s Choice Award in the Darling Downs/West Moreton Region in the 2018 Queensland Architecture Awards with the entry of Escarpment Retreat.
Inspired by the prefabricated German Huf Haus, Feather & Lawry designed the home’s exposed engineered steel structure with a light and airy spaciousness in mind. Creating a sense of connection with the surrounding towering gums to enable the owners to live the ‘Alpine Retreat’ dream daily with the benefit of practical usability. Feather & Lawry has more than 20 years of experience in the design industry and pride themselves on being a multi-disciplined practice with a large and varied project portfolio in both the residential and commercial sectors.
In addition to their wins at the 2018 Queensland Architecture Awards, the Escarpment Retreat also won the Best Use of Steel Frame Housing at the 2017 Downs & Western Master Builders’ Awards.
