Volvo Trucks has announced charity bike ride Handling The Outback will take place from Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 October, raising money for the Breastscreen Queensland Toowoomba service.
The two day charity bike ride will see cyclists journey from Toowoomba to Gordon Country, where participants will enjoy a night of activities and entertainment at the picturesque Gordon Country estate, with a gentle ride back to Toowoomba on the Sunday.
Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kenned said each rider is encouraged to raise $1000 dollars that will go towards Breastscreen Queensland Toowoomba service. “We’re looking for 60 riders to join us on this bike ride with a difference,” said Alison. “Each rider is encouraged to raise $1000 which goes towards our overall goal of raising $142,000 required to purchase the vital equipment for the Breastscreen Queensland Toowoomba service.”
Volvo Group Australia CEO and President Mr Peter Voorhoeve commended the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation for its valuable contribution to the Darling Downs region through its vital fundraising for facilities and services to the community. “We look forward to continuing our support for the Handling The Outback and along with our own cyclists from Volvo Group Australia, we wish all the best to cyclists getting involved,” Peter said.
The cost for the event is $350 per person, and will include accommodation, food and drinks, live entertainment and a commemorative jersey. Participants will ride approximately 220 kilometers.
