Our Lady of the Southern Cross chooses College Leaders based on merit and has this year moved to choosing College Leaders without designated gender. 2020 Captains Breanna Tanks and Charlotte Crothers are both passionate about their College and community and committed to excellence despite the difficulties 2020 has posed.
Charlotte Crothers follows a brother and a sister to Our Lady of the Southern Cross. Her father attended St Mary’s prior to unification with St Columba’s to form Our Lady of the Southern Cross.
Charlotte is passionate about Science and Sport and excels at both. She hopes to study Science and Medicine at university and also travel across Europe after College finishes. Charlotte is commited to her College amid the array of challenges Colleges are currently undergoing saying, ”College connection has never been so important.”
Breanna Tanks started at Our Lady of the Southern Cross in Year 10 and is the first member of her family to attend. She has participated in the USQ Head Start program, where she has studied the first semester of The Australian Legal System. This program guarantees Breanna entry into a similar course at USQ.
Breanna, who is also very passionate about sport, hopes to study either a Degree in Law and Psychology or Law and Criminology. She is proud of OLSCC, and notes that a recent rise in the College population has also led to “a rise in participation” and that “students are enhancing their capabilities in both curricular and extracurricular activities”.
